PUBLIC NOTICE: Temporary fluctuation in flows from Crotch Lake to Sheridan Rapids due to High Falls dam maintenance on October 16th and 17th

Posted on 4 October 2024 in News, Events

October 16

Increased flows could cause short-term dangerous conditions

October 4, 2024 - The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) would like to inform residents in the Snow Road and Dalhousie Lake areas that on October 16th and17th there will be testing performed on the new log lifter at the High Falls Dam. Due to dam operations there will be a significant increase in water levels and flows on the Mississippi River between Crotch Lake and Sheridan’s Rapids on October 16th and 17th. Levels and flows are expected to return to normal once testing is completed.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution around these areas as the increase in flows from Crotch Lake and High Falls will produce strong currents and increase water levels during this time.

Residents should ensure that all boats, floating docks, etc., have been removed.

Thank you for your cooperation with this required maintenance.
