In September 2022, MVCA in partnership with South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC), Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) and the City of Ottawa applied for and were subsequently approved for a funding to support the land cover update in eastern Ontario. Updating the land classification in eastern Ontario will provide valuable support to projects that enable accurate flood risk assessment and mapping. The updated will also support other municipal services and functions including: natural heritage mapping, land cover change analysis, asset management, and emergency management.

This project is being conducted with support from Natural Resources Canada’s Flood Risk Identification and Mapping Program (FHIMP) with anticipated completion in March 2024.
