Call for City Stream Watch Volunteers

Posted on 14 July 2025 in News

Join us in July & August for City Stream Watch (CSW) 2025!

This year we will be assessing Cody Creek in Ottawa. The creek is located mainly in the west end of the city, passing though mostly private property.

We are looking for 3-4 volunteers a day. Sign up for as many or as few days as you like!

The program will run Monday-Friday 9 am-3 pm throughout July and August depending on volunteer uptake and preferences. Once the sampling dates are set you will be sent a confirmation email with details on your date(s) as well as what to bring and where to meet.

A day of CSW

Includes meeting up at the access point to the creek, having a brief safety talk, getting our gear on, walking to the creek, then spending a few hours surveying the creek in 100 m intervals. These activities will require you to wear chest waders, be comfortable in and around water and be stable while walking in the creek. While out surveying you will likely get to see all kinds of wildlife and nature, from birds and dragonflies to fish and water bugs. The possibilities are endless.
