Level 1 Minor Drought UPDATE

August 3, 2018: Rainfall received over the last two weeks has brought significant relief to the system with majority of lakes and tributaries reaching historical averages for this time of year.

However, flows are declining again and can be expected to fall below average once more due to limited rain forecasted and 30 degree days, causing evaporation.

The Mississippi Valley watershed will continue to stay at Level 1 Minor Drought status.

MVCA would like to remind residents to conserve water as long-range forecasts indicate warmer and dryer than normal through the rest of the summer and into the fall.
