The Friends of the Carp River and the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority are inviting the community to join them to “Canoe the Carp River” this spring.
The event will be held on Sunday, 25 May between 10AM and 3PM (Rain date is Sunday 1 June). Boats will be launched at Carp Road and Rivington Street by the bridge. We will paddle upstream as far as Huntmar Road and then return to Carp, a round trip distance of 11 km, which will take approximately 3 hours at a leisurely pace.
Boaters will see beautiful natural areas along the route: forests, wetlands, and wet meadows. Also visible will be evidence of past dredging (straightened channels and high banks) and runoff from pasture/fields without riparian planting.
Karson’s has kindly offered parking at their site across the road and use of their port-a-potty. Participants are asked to register ahead of time and to sign a waiver. Please arrive on time. We plan to launch at 10: 30 AM.
To register and get a ticket, go to: Eventbrite – Canoe the Carp River
One ticket per boat. Once you have your ticket, please download and print the waiver. One waiver per participant. Sign it and either scan it and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or bring it with you to the launch.
