MVCA Board Votes Unanimously to Reduce Fees for Flood Victims

May 16, 2019 CARLETON PLACE— At its meeting on May 15, 2019, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) Board of Directors voted unanimously to reduce permit fees by 50% for shoreline alteration and rebuilding for property owners across the watershed affected by the 2019 flood event. The fee reduction will remain in place until October 31, 2020.

“Flooding was at an all-time high for much of the watershed and many people sustained extensive damage to their property,” said MVCA Board Chair Janet Mason. “The Board wanted to ease the burden of their recovery where we could.”

MVCA will be hosting a series of open houses across the watershed to provide an opportunity for residents affected by the flood to discuss the state of their property with staff.

Additional dates will be added, including open houses in the western part of the watershed and in Constance Bay.
